A wood fired soap dish that has been colored by flames and glazed by the wood ash in the fire.
It was thrown on the wheel then altered by throwing it on a stone slab then shaped and dried in a cotton sling. The raised spiral helps keep the soap out of the water.
The stoneware clay used to make this soap dish has been formulated to take the heat of a cone 13 (approx. 2450 degrees F.) wood-firing. The color and glaze are from the fire. It was fired in an anagama kiln stoked with wood every few minutes non-stop for 5 days.
About 7 inches long and about 4 wide.
